An Operating System is the software which interacts with the hardware of a PC and functions as the intermediary between applications and the hardware, which includes peripherals such as a printer, a mouse or a keyboard. When you run an application, it transfers requests to the OS using an API (Application Program Interface) and the interaction is done via a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI). Similar to a personal computer, hosting servers also use an Operating System which serves as a host for all the software installed on them, including script applications or server-side software such as a flash server, a VOIP server, etc. A virtual machine can be set up on a physical one, so you will be able to install a guest OS on it and have a different system environment in contrast to the physical server host Operating System.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

Our VPS server plans feature three Linux distributions that you could pick from for the Operating System of your new web server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Aside from being totally free, the OSs are extremely stable and safe and the primary reason to offer all 3 of them is to make sure that you will be able to run every application that you would like, because different pieces of software have different requirements regarding the environment they can be used on. Each of the three OSs is supported by a large community of developers who have produced a large number of software packages which you can install and use on your VPS. Based on the Operating System that you choose, you will also be able to choose between three different Control Panels to take care of your web hosting content. Also, if you decide that you need another OS, we could always reinstall the server with it. As a paid upgrade, we also provide weekly updates of the Operating System for optimum stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

The dedicated server solutions that we offer come with three different Operating Systems to choose from. They are all Linux distributions - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license charges, but they’re also regarded as the most stable and safe OSs. We supply three different ones since each of them is backed by a separate community. The packages that you can add on your server are different and this could matter in case you need to install some piece of software with specific requirements regarding the hosting environment. In this light, the web hosting Control Panel which you can select for the dedicated server is also determined by the OS that you will choose. You may choose any of the three Operating Systems throughout the order procedure, but if necessary, we can always install the server anew with another one upon your request. As an additional service that you may add to the package at any moment, we can update the OS on a regular basis so as to keep it as risk-free as possible.
